Miami is the 3rd SELFIEST city in the world #TBT

Talk about a Throw Back Thursday #TBT – I posted this back in 2014 and wonder where Miami sits today when it comes to selfies.

For years people have been taking self-portraits to document themselves for a number of different reasons.  But social media has made this self-documentation so easy with hand-held devices and phones and the SELFIE is here to stay.  Selfies are casual and fun and whether or not you consider them vain or self-indulging, the craze is taking the world by storm!


TIME Magazine recently ranked  the top 100 selfiest cities in the world and Miami came in at number 3 with 155 selfie-takers per 100,000 people.

To investigate the geography of selfie-taking, TIME built a database of more than 400,000 Instagram photos tagged “selfie” that included geographic coordinates. In total, we ranked 459 cities to determine the selfiest places on earth. Fear not Manhattan and Miami, you’re up there.

Number 1 was Makati City and Pasig, Philippines with 258 selfie-takers per 100,000 people.
Number 2 was Manhattan, N.Y. with 202 selfie-takers per 100,000 people
