Miamism Fridays – Marine Stadium

There is amazing historic architecture in our city that gets taken for granted – sometimes I feel like we are a disposable society….it is so much easier to “tear it down” than to preserve it (and honestly, no matter what anyone thinks, we don’t build them like we used to).

This amazing capture by my dear friend Tanya Diaz (aka www.musephotos.com) captures the nostalgia I feel every time I go by the Marine Stadium and also segues to the great news published by the Miami Herald this week announcing plans to start the rehabilitation process of the structure.

….another Miamism !!

Please take a look at Tanya’s abandonedmuse site … it’s one of my faves!  (miss ya girl!)

** Here at Miamism we love to post your Miami Photos. If you have a shot you want to share please join the Miamism Group at Flickr.com – or you can e-mail the photos directly to us at info@miamism.com *

NOTE:  The Marine Stadium’s restoration efforts are currently on-going, spearheaded by Friends of The Marine Stadium and The National Trust for Historic Preservation.  The City of Miami has given a deadline of 2 years to raise $40 Million.  The National Trust for Historic Preservation is now accepting donations – every penny counts! PLEASE DONATE TO RESTORE THE MIAMI MARINE STADIUM
